What's new
What has reached ThoroughVet in production, newest first: the web portal, the iPhone and iPad app and the desktop app.
October 2026
A new look for the web portal, and one upload window for everything
Every page of the web portal moves to a compact new design, and uploads now start from one window that opens over whatever page you are on.
- Activity, Sales, Studies, Reports, Shortlists and the sale workspace share one compact design, with a floating side menu.
- Press Command K to jump to any page or sale.
- Lists keep their filters and sort in the address, so a link opens the same view.
- Upload from any page: choose a sale and lot, or a new or existing study, then add files.
- Choose a whole folder and every file in it is queued, with DICOMDIR and system files skipped.
- The upload panel groups files by lot and sale, or by study, and shows progress in megabytes for each file and group.
- Study names in the upload panel match the Studies list.
The ThoroughVet desktop app, and reports sent by email link
ThoroughVet now runs as a desktop app for Windows and Mac, and vets can email a report so that each recipient gets their own link.
- Download the desktop app for Windows or Mac. It updates itself, and asks before quitting while uploads are still running.
- Save several accounts and switch between clinics or companies, with Touch ID on Mac and a shared-computer mode.
- Desktop notifications and badges for new activity.
- Email a report: each recipient gets their own link, which you can withdraw at any time, with the PDF attached if you choose.
- Every report send is kept in the clinic's send history, with delivery and link activity.
- Consignors get a vet view alert when a vet opens their lot's X-rays in ThoroughVet.
- Consignors have their own activity feed, and each item opens their own lot.
- Consignor statistics show their lots with the catalogue alongside.
- Approval and denial alerts go to the vet who submitted the files.
- A Bloodstock role for sales company staff who need statistics and the catalogue only.
- Delete your account from Settings in the web portal, the desktop app or the phone app.
Connect your X-ray machine
Clinics can connect their X-ray machine to ThoroughVet through the X-ray Gateway, and vets are alerted as images arrive.
- Add an X-ray Gateway in Settings, copy its one-time token and download the Windows installer.
- See each gateway's status, and revoke one at any time.
- Images from the X-ray machine appear on the Uploads page, with a push alert when they start arriving and another when they are all received.
- Web uploads are faster and adjust to slow connections.
- Phone numbers and email addresses are checked as you type, with a country code picker, and SMS alerts go only to mobile numbers.
- Notification settings explain SMS consent, including how to reply STOP or HELP.
- The declare-client list shows only your own clinic's client names, and a clinic can switch the list off.
- Sale settings are redesigned, with dates, submissions and documents behind one save bar.
- A lot's submission can be completed once its X-ray requirements are met; missing scope video or reports show a warning.
- On the app, the Studies list shows when each study was uploaded, newest first.

Sign up and set up your clinic yourself
Vets can create an account, set up their clinic and bring in their team without waiting for us, and statistics, results and vet access are redesigned on the app.
- Create an account with a verification code sent by email or SMS, and you are signed straight in.
- If your email already has an account, sign-up says so and offers sign-in or a password reset.
- Set up your clinic, invite your team, or ask to join a clinic that already uses ThoroughVet.
- Switch between saved accounts, with a single Log out.
- Sale statistics are redesigned, with the sale's sections in a header menu.
- Sale results are redesigned on iPhone and iPad.
- Vet access on the app: vets, clinics and requests, each with its own page and a review sheet.
- On the app, Home activity shows report grades and comments.
- Study photos can be submitted to a sale as images, and DICOM files are labelled X-ray Images.
- The app's upload list has Cancel all and Clear all.
- A lot's file counts and thumbnails show approved files only.
The iPhone and iPad app, redesigned
Every main screen of the iPhone and iPad app is rebuilt to feel native, with iPhone lists and iPad tables side by side in one design.
- Studies: an iPhone list and an iPad table, with a filters sheet.
- Sales and Reports: reports by date or by horse, and a Combined reports screen.
- Activity brings together the live sale card, your notifications and account activity.
- Notifications: search, All or Unread, and filters, with the unread count on the Activity tab.
- Communications: one row per message, with the full send details a tap away.
- Submissions: a status menu with counts, quick actions on a long press, and an iPad table.
- Submitting a study to a sale is redesigned, step by step.
- Settings, the sale catalogue, report writing, Shortlists, Uploads, Contacts and organisations, and sign-in are redesigned.
- A floating glass navigation rail on iPad.
- A country code picker on every phone number field.
- A rotated X-ray shows its new orientation straight away.
Shortlists, a new Home and area review
Shortlists become the client's brief across every sale, Home shows what needs you today, and X-rays can be reviewed area by area.
- Build a shortlist of lots for a client, across sales, and tick the reports they need for each horse.
- Remove a lot from a shortlist, with Undo.
- An account-wide Shortlists page, with contacts and a contact profile, on the web, iPhone and iPad.
- Home shows your sales, your notifications and your account activity.
- Review a study's X-rays by body area, and sales companies can move an image to its suggested area.
- Documents open for review with the PDF first.
- Activity and Contacts and organisations get their own places in the menu.
- A sale stays live through its final day.
Three ways to read the reports register
The reports register can be read by report, as combined reports, or by horse, and statistics links shared with consignors show each lot's result.
- Switch the reports register between individual reports, combined reports and horses.
- Each horse line shows age, sex, date of birth and consignor.
- Combined reports show the vet who wrote them.
- A lot's X-rays appear as one submission row per study, not one row per image.
- Statistics links shared with a consignor name the consignor and fill in each lot's result.
ThoroughVet AI sorts your radiographs
ThoroughVet AI suggests the region, view and side for each radiograph, and a vet always confirms. Submissions move to one shared table with bulk approval.
- ThoroughVet AI suggestions arrive as Suggested or Possible. Accept one, accept every confident suggestion at once, or choose Not this.
- Ask ThoroughVet AI to check a whole study or a single image.
- Images whose category looks wrong, and duplicate images, are flagged for a person to decide. Nothing is changed or deleted automatically.
- Submissions: one table for sales companies and vets, a decision window, and bulk approval.
- The submissions register opens on In review and shows the status each lot's files are actually at.
- Report attachments appear in the HTML report as well as the PDF.
- A downloaded PDF always includes the report's images.
- The reports register scrolls through every report, with an Overall comment column.
- The communications log pages through long histories, names the sender and exports.
Save, send and the sale's contacts
Saving a report now leads straight to the next step, and sales companies can see who to call about each lot.
- After saving, the Report saved screen offers View, Edit, Send and New.
- Edit a report in place, and Send and Share are one action.
- Download sits in the PDF tab, and every report has a PDF.
- Scope reports grade on the scale your clinic chooses.
- Clinical reports show a grade row for each category.
- Combined reports carry their attachments.
- A Contacts tab on each sale lists the people to call about every lot.
Vet reports, rebuilt
Vet reports now live fully in ThoroughVet, with one report window, a single-page A4 layout and the clinic's own letterhead.
- One report window with Report, HTML and PDF tabs, plus Share, Download and Edit, on the web and the app.
- Edit any report in the same editor you write it in, and its attachments stay with it.
- Every report prints on one A4 page, with left and right X-ray findings side by side.
- Your clinic's name, logo, address and email head every report.
- Attach photos and files to any report, on the web or with your phone's camera.
- Reports from earlier systems sit in the register beside new ones, in the ThoroughVet design.
- The X-ray editor shows how many earlier reports a horse has, and their findings for each area.
- Combined reports bring several reports for a lot into one document.
- Each lot shows a count of every report type, including ultrasound.
- The lot profile shows the catalogue, media and reports in one view.
- Catalogue PDFs and pedigrees open in place.
- Settings are regrouped into seven tiles, with ultrasound and combined report settings.
- On iPad, a side rail replaces the bottom tab bar.
August 2026
Sale results, and consultant vets
Every sale gets a results page on the web and the app, and sales companies can set up consultant vets.
- Sale results: turnover, average, median, top price and clearance, top lots, leading buyers, consignors and sires, price bands, sessions and a comparison with last year's sale.
- During a sale, comparisons use the same number of lots through the ring last year, and the page says so.
- Every league opens to its full list.
- Results open from the live sale tile and the sale page.
- Maximise or minimise the ring webcast on any screen.
- Sales companies can make a vet a consultant who sees every lot, and keep their views out of consignor statistics and alerts.
- Consultant vets open the viewer without declaring a client.
- Pick an X-ray, scope video or PDF report from a study and the viewer opens on it.
Consignor sign-in, report PDFs and the live sale tile
Consignors get their own sign-in, vets can produce a PDF of any report, and Home shows the sale in the ring.
- Consignors sign in to see their own lots, sale by sale, on the web and the app.
- Generate a PDF of a vet report on the web, and export it from the app.
- Report editors are redesigned for desktop and iPad.
- The communications log shows delivery and read status for each message, with company and channel filters.
- A live sale tile on Home with a countdown, the latest results and the ring webcast, where the sales company provides a feed.
- The webcast plays in the app and returns to the live point when you come back to it.
Submissions and uploads from any page
Vets prepare and submit X-rays to a sale on a board of body areas, sales companies review them, and uploads can start from anywhere in the portal.
- Prepare a submission on a board of body areas, then submit it to the sale.
- Sales companies approve, deny or return a submission, on the web or the app.
- One submission page per lot shows what is uploaded, in review and approved.
- Upload from any page. A progress panel follows you around the portal, and Uploads lists active and completed files.
- Send an upload straight to a sale lot.
- Large X-ray batches upload several files at once.
- Where a sale asks for it, vets declare which client they are viewing for before opening media.
- Choose notifications by email, SMS and push, with a bell and a notifications page.
- A communications log across all sales, filtered by channel.
- Sale settings in four tabs with one save.
- Opening a study from your own clinic page no longer counts as a sale view for the consignor.
- On iPhone and iPad, documents, photos and videos open inside the app, and the tab bar matches your role.
- Choose Light, Dark or System appearance.
July 2026
Studies, the scope player and the sale catalogue
The studies list, the X-ray image views and the sale catalogue are rebuilt, and scope videos get their own player on the web and iPhone.
- A compact Studies list with search and filters, and study pages that show images, scope videos and documents together.
- X-ray images as a grid, a list or left and right pairs, with a preview you page through with the arrow keys.
- Rotate an image, delete it or move it to another study.
- A scope video player with frame-by-frame stepping, a magnifier and frame capture.
- An abduction timer marks start and stop and shows the result against the 200 ms Havemeyer threshold.
- The viewer opens with the study's scope videos and PDF reports alongside the X-rays.
- On the app, request access to a sale and accept its terms in one dialog.
- A sale catalogue with report-type columns, a lot that opens in place and a filter menu.
- Sale statistics with a Vets tab, a trend chart and drill-down, and the vets viewing now during a sale.
- Sales companies can send a message to a sale's vets or consignors, and set their own templates.
- Report settings, X-ray image order and company details in Settings.
- iPad layouts with a three-up Home and a grid of study cards.
